Kat J.
Private tutor in Newport News, VA
Education
I am a senior at Christopher Newport University. I am pursuing a BS in psychology, with double minors in leadership studies and childhood studies. I am in the leadership program and the honors program at CNU. I currently have a 3.5 GPA. I studied abroad last summer at Oxford University, where I took one course. I am now looking at graduate schools because I want to be an occupational therapist.
Experience
All throughout high school, I tutored my peers in different levels of math and spanish. Math-wise, I took algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, and AP calculus in high school, and have taken statistics in college. Among many other AP tests I took in high school, I received 5's on the AP psychology and AP calculus tests. I received a 32 on the ACT, and a 1370 on the SAT. Being a psychology major, I have taken numerous psychology courses and love the subject. My sophomore year of college, I spent time providing one-on-one help to a group of kids with learning disabilities in their sixth grade math classroom. I now currently work with my university, serving as a writing tutor for a writing intensive psychology course. I have always loved to teach and I love tutoring.

Hobbies
As I mentioned earlier, I want to be an occupational therapist. The past three summers, I have worked at Camp Easter Seals UCP, a summer camp for children and adults with different disabilities, as a horseback riding specialist, counselor, cabin leader, and head counselor. During the school year, I volunteer at a therapeutic horseback riding center. I love to travel and spend time with my friends. I am happy doing almost anything!
